We made several more stops that day but were unable to locate any drivers until we got to Palmer Municipal, who were out on a call. By the time they returned, the sun was going too low, so contact info was obtained for a near future visit. The next day was somewhat overcast in the morning.
My next stop was Elkins Park, where I hoped to get a shot of their new quint, which had not yet entered service. When I arrived, I discovered that the radio guy was in mid installation and that there was only one driver allowed to move it, and he was in Harrisburg. Arrangements were made to meet him in two hours, after he got back. The radio guy assured me he would be long gone by then. After shooting their engine, I headed ten miles west to hit another FD, figuring two hours was plenty of time to get there and back. I was wrong!

The trip to Bryn Mawr and back was way more time consuming than I had anticipated. There are at least 300 traffic lights between the two, and I swear I hit every one of them red! By the time I got back to Elkins Park, the clouds had gotten thicker, but the driver was there waiting on me.

I had stopped at Berwyn the same day I shot Radnor and Malvern, but was told by a young member that there were no drivers available. Sitting in the house were Pierce and Seagrave pumpers on either side of an E One platform. On my next visit, the Seagrave was in the shop, but there was a young female driver who pulled out the Pierce and told me that the "duty crew" was on a run and they could pull out the platform when they got back.

She also told me they had a temporary second station due to a bridge that was out and gave me directions to get to it. There is another duty crew there.

When I got back to their main station, the duty crew had not yet returned. Shortly thereafter, the rain began, so I gave up and headed back to Dan's house. The next day, I met up with a few PA photographers (Pat Shoop, Ken Snyder, Darin Smith, and Dan Markiewicz) for a photo shoot of three FD's that they had set up and invited me to join.
