The year 2000 brings a few changes to the department. A new station is constructed in the northern part of the City, to cover a rapidly growing area with several highways and a major urban/wildland interface issue, and is designated Station 13

Squad 13 is the department's first rescue pumper, equipped with larger compartments to hold the extrication equipment. Due to the number of highways, and major wildland/urban interface, a rescue pumper was deemed necessary for the anticipated vehicle collisions that station 13 will respond to.
