Detroit-Dwelling Fire-Barlow & Minden-7/4/20
#1
So, with the 4th of July concert cancelled in Boston this year, I decided to take a drive out to Detroit to see what I could catch.  Traffic was heavier than what I have experienced in the past so getting to jobs was a bit of a challenge.  I sat and watched the neighborhood fireworks show at Grand and Gratiot until Ladder 23 reported they had a civilian report of a trash fire that they would be investigating.

A few minutes later, they requested a box for Barlow/Minden, reporting a dwelling going throughout, first engine will be stretching.  A part of Gratiot was shut down for an unknown reason, causing a detour that delayed me by about 10 minutes.  This is what was shoing on arrival

The peak of the roof went in just as I got to the front of the Truck, I tried a photo, but it was too quick for me to get the camera up, focus and shoot at the 1/20 sec that I was shooting at, so I don't have that photo.  This is the last photo from this fire.

In planning for this trip, I decided to upgrade some technology options.  The largest upgrade was the acquisition of a GoPro Hero 7 for livestreaming.  The GoPro sits on an "L" brackert attached to my primary camera and is controlled by a phone app to livestream to Facebook.  I start the stream and pretty much try to keep it pointed at the scene.  It worked out pretty well.

Nice shots. It seems like Detroit has really slowed down over the years hasn't it.

Thanks for sharing
