I agree, it looks like it was someones rig from up here in the northeast. FDNY is a strong possiblity. The bars over the cab would have held the plywood "Riot Roof" on. I know some North Jersey cities did this also. The cab looks FDNY for that time frame. Could this be Old Ladder 52? It was the LAST WOODEN Stick on the job in 1972... It might have lasted 35 years. Just like OLD FDNY... just retire and go to FLORIDA!

I have some further info for you Dave, the owner of the truck is Norm Habib, he owns Petri Baking Products in Silver Creek, NY. From what I understand this guy loves to buy old Mack fire trucks and had a Mack serial at one time.
Shot 2 trucks today that I had been meaning to shoot for awhile. First up is a Ford chassis pumper of some type. It was the City of Cohutta, GA. E-3 at some point.
This one hit home, and hit home HARD. She was originally Cobb Co. Ladder 10, purchased new in 1968 for the Fair Oaks Fire District and was painted school bus yellow. She went thru a major refurb in the early '80s and was painted red then. A new Station 10 was built on Powder Springs Rd. and I got to drive her occasionally as an Engr. (Then Sgt.) When Station #22 was built, she was reassigned there as Ladder 22. That's where I spent some time with her again as a new LT. riding seat when Capt. Ballentine was off about '89. Now she barely had anything to say to me as she is more of a play-toy for some birthday party outfit. How degrading for such a proud ol' gal!
Here is a front on view. You can still barely make out the "Cobb County" on her nose. I don't remember the exact manufacturer, but I think it was an FWD chassis and could everything else been made/assemblied by Snorkel? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Don't have a clue what was up with the sign. She still sports her Fed. Q2b, a REAL siren. It sure did work a lot better than those fake Q2b electronic junks.
I think the Mack mirrors were an afterthought. Probably something lying around the shop when one got knocked off.

Jack Calderone's "Wheels of the Bravest" id's this unit as a 1955 FWD tractor AND 75' wooden aerial. 25 of them were purchased. Info on p 135, which shows one lettered as L32.
The ladders utilized laminated Douglas Fir for extra strength. The ladder was further strengthened with truss rods on the fly and the bed. Those are still evident in the posted pic.

Thanks Dave. Didn't know Pierce was that old. After I posted I saw an Internt'l with the "V" emblem and remembered it had one on it's nose prior to refurb. I now promote you to Tarmac the Magnificent of all Fire Apparatus.

Pierce has been around since 1913. I have a shot of that Snorkel that I took back when it was still in service. I'll post it later this evening. I'm working on the P-8D today and just came in for lunch. I'll be back after it gets too dark to see what I'm doing out there.

Who'd a thunk! Yea, party truck. Geeze Louise, I stood there and stared for a few minutes before I could get up the nerve to take her picture. Just ain't right for that particular truck. Now any Freightliner is a different story. They would deserve something like that.

This 1971 Mack CF/Pierce 85ft Snorkel is still sitting in a truck lot in Huntingburg IN. How it got from Livingston NJ to out here(and not in service), is a mystery to me. It could use a little work, but not too much.
