This was the last shot on Thursday before heading to my hotel in Michigan.  I stopped at a few VFD's along the way, but no one was at any of them.

Since I didn't need to be in Frankenmuth before 2 PM, I spent Friday morning hunting apparatus.  First stop was the Town of Burton.  They are a VFD with three stations and a career administrative staff at Station 2.  After much conversation, I managed to talk the Captain into pulling out one rig.

The Captain would make no attempt to call anyone who might meet me at either of their other stations, so I headed to my next target, Grand Blanc Township.  Since my last visit in 2012, they lost one of their three stations to the City of Grand Blanc, who started their own VFD.  Just before arriving at Station 1, I spotted a new Station 1 so I stopped.  A rear bay door was open, so I went around back.  There was a guy there, applying graphics to a new light rescue truck.  He told me to try the other station.  When I got there, both of the rigs I wanted were there.

Leaving Grand Blanc, I headed south towards Fenton Township's two stations.  The road I was taking was closed due to a bridge being out.  Mr. Garmin's detour took me several miles out of my way to get around it.  Just after passing the other end of the road with the bridge out, the road I was on had another bridge out.  Mr. Garmin told me that this detour would be almost 20 more miles out of my way, there and back, so I gave it up and headed north into Flint.  I passed Engine 81 working an MVA just before I got to their station, so I waited.

Moving north, my next stop was Flint Station 1.  The activity level there was high.  Both heavy rescues were there, undergoing inspection by the State.  Truck 1 was out of service and they don't have a reserve.  Engine 61 was there, the officer in some meeting.  The station faces north.  I managed to get E-11 and E-61 pulled onto the street on the east side of the station for a shot while they were moving, due to traffic.

I was told of a training session at 10:30 and given the address.  Every in service rig was supposed to attend, including the two heavy rescues once their inspection was over.  I arrived at the address a bit early and Engine 81 was already there.  Suddenly, the crew ran to the engine and the lights came on and off they went.  I began to hear sirens from all over town, all heading southeast of my location.  I never saw any smoke in the distance, but I later found out it was a commercial worker in 81's first due.
