Keystone State Relics
Has taken me well over two days to go through this thread and I must say that there were a lot of nice rigs in here. I have a rather large collection of old apparatus from Dauphin County, Cumberland, and Perry Counties that I will post over the next few weeks.

Now in regards to some pictures that I saw posted.

The Orange and White Rescue from Halifax was owned by the Halifax Area Ambulance and Rescue Association. I run with this organization. We were the first and last strickly ambulance comapny in Dauphin County to run a rescue (the other being Hummelstown). The rig is a 1979 Chevrolet with I believe a Reading Box on the back. In 1995 the Box was remounted on a 1995 Ford chassis. It was sold in 2000 to a member of the company to use as his work truck.

Squad 40 in post #1855 is from the Paxtang Fire Company of Dauphin County before it was repainted red. It is a 1973 C-Model Ford/Swab.

Truck 48 in Post #1867 was a 1980 Pierce/Hendrickson. Sold to Lykens and Lykens just sold it to the Lyons Fire Protection District of Lyons, Colorado

Tom,

Additional info on the Lancaster Fire School rig:

1949 Dodge/General, full cab, 500/400, originally owned by the Friendship Fire Comapny of Mount Joy (Lancaster County, PA), donated by company member Kauffman Keller, original motor replaced in 1957 with a 354 cc V-8 Hemi. On 10/13/74 it was donated to the Lancaster County Fire School who had it rehabed (new 500 gallon tank) and repainted by the Vo-Tech students. It was made available to any company in the county who needed a truck on loan for any reason. The pump was overhauled in 1976. It had a 5-speed manual transmission with a two-speed rear. By 2005 owned by an individual in Hershey, PA who had purchased it for the driveline only – was selling it on E-bay on 9/27/05.

I do not know what happened to it after this ?

The first motorized apparatus of the Washington Steam FC of Conshohocken (Montgomery Co.),PA was an American LaFrance 700 gpm pumper purchased in 1914. In 1974 they purchased their eighth Amer LaFr product which was this 100 ft midmount aerial ladder. It sported a 14 inch bell which was saved and remounted from the company's first city-serice Amer LaFr ladder which was a 1920 model. THe ladder was sold to a musem in IN in 2002. Can anyone provide more details? THe ninth and last Amer LaFr was the one in the photo which was purchased in 1981 as a 1250/750. In 2002 it was sold to Southeast FD-Murfreesboro (Rutherford Co.).TN. In 2006 it was offered for sale again. Can anyone provide present location?

Okay:

That is a light tower on the roof of the Washies of Conshie ALF Ladder was made by SuperVac in the 1970's in two different styles, the basic one shown and a delux one with rotating warning lights on it. As a Junior Fireman "we" purchased one for Quakertown No.1 which was on the Divco (176) and later on Chemical 17, the 1978 Mack R/Swab. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/3_12_21.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='3_12_21' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/Captain.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Captain' />

Tom: additional info-

In 1963 this American LaFrance 100 ft midmount ladder was delivered new to Elkins Park (Montgomery Co.),PA. It was painted their traditional color of Tampa Beige. Originally a semi-cab, the Whitten fiberglass cab cover was added later. In 1974 it was sold to Sellersville (Bucks Co.),PA. The Tampa Beige color was initially retained as per the photo. In 1984 it was repainted all red. In 1990 it was rehabed at the Amer LaFr service facility at Dunmore,PA. The rehab included a new Century cab, new Detroit diesel motor, rebuilt automatic trans and hydraulic outriggers and a new red paint job. In 2006 it was sold to Fieldsboro (Burlington Co.),NJ. In 2007 it was offered for sale again.

This rig belonged to the Grantville Volunteer Fire Company, Dauphin County Company 39. I have not found out the reason behind the "82" on the license plate yet, still waiting on an answer to that.

Here is is in a unit line up of the fire company from 1983.

The rig is second from right.

Hope this helps.
