Is LA County going to black over red now?
Reply
Black/red designates a CAFS engine.

This one is a 1977 American LaFrance Century Series that was sitting behind Station 118.

I knew you'd post that! How about the Crown Widebody that was sitting back there for a while? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

This is Reserve Engine 5118. Former Covina FD rig. When this rig was repainted to honor the "343", it was supposed to be given to every station for at least a shift or two. But the higher ups saw that it was putting on a LOT of miles and pulled it from the tour of stations and went back into the reserve pool as E5166. Then late last year, they decided to reassigned it to E5118 and use it only as a Public Relations rig.

The L.A. County rig painted in FDNY colors is actually an ex-El Monte rig, not an ex-Covina rig.

That can explain why I've seen/heard the rig be assigned as a active engine company and once fill in for one of the HAZ MAT team engines when their engine was OOS
People complaining about spam in the spam mail box... Huh, what'll they think of next?
