Then on September 26th, 1975, the city placed in service with Company 8 a 1975 CF-Model Mack. The 1962 C-Model Mack was kept as a spare piece.

The, in 1983, Fire Chief Don Konkle moved the 1975 CF-Model Mack to the newly built Station 2 to become Wagon 4. Chiek Konkle then moved the 1962 C-Model Mack back to the Mt. Pleasant Fire Company to run as Squad 8, and their response district was increased to most of the city. As time went on, this piece started covering for Engine's 1 and 2 which were being placed out of service. Their call volumn soared to between 1600 and 1800 calls per year. This went on for 4 years and was considered by many Mack enthusiasts to be the busiest C-Model Mack in the world.

On October 23rd, 1987, the city placed in service with Company 8 a 1987 Sutphen as Squad 8. This unit was replaced in 1998 with a Seagrave and is now the Reserve Squad.

the old trash truck, i remember it well. this was a beefed up version of what used to be abington 105 and mc kinley 206 it was designed to get out with 4-5 guys and be in front of the fire building with a 750 gal tank is was used to make quick knock downs. i remember a fatal house fire on hallman road at about 4 am and this rig worked great made a good agressive attack unfortunally there was a loss of life. at the time roslyn was running 3 pumpers so it worked but it was replaced in 1982 ish by a new cf 600 with all the bells and whistles.

I was surprised myself the first time I heard that Harrisburg still had vollies. But they do, however, I believe that have to go through strict training and an application process before they are allowed to run.

Next is the Allison Hook and Ladder Company No. 2 of Harrisburg City. This company is no longer in service.

Old Ladder 2 - 1935 Mack. This is how the Mack Looked when it was in service with the city of Harrisburg. In 1958 it was sold to the Progress Fire Company of Dauphin County. Progress had the truck for quite some time and at one point the Mack tractor died on them so they put a Dodge tractor under it. It was sold in 1975 to city firefighter and fire buff David Buskey. He donated the truck to the Fire Museum of Harrisburg in 1995. The trailer is original, the tractor was rebuilt from another tractor that had been purchased.
