Probably another one-off truck was this tanker from the Harwood Fire Co. in Harwood Mines. Tanker 193 was a 1971 FWD Tractioneer 4x4 with bodywork from Welch. It has a 500 gpm-pump and a 2000 gallon-tank.

This is a 1967 IH V-model tractor hooked to a 1940 85' Pirsch which was put in service by the Franklin FC in Chambersburg,PA. in 1976 and was replaced in 1988.It originally beloged to the Junior Hose and Truck CO. of Chambersburg. Another example is this 1960 Mack B-85 tractor drawing a 85'? Maxim aerial from Reading PA. A factory photo of this rig appears in Harvey Eckart's latest Mack book.(pg. 103)

Parks Twp's last 2 engines are white but do have a green stripe they just bought a used International ambulance as a "rehab" truck it didn't have a green stripe last time i saw it They also just put up a new green house siren at their main station
Mack used Maxim aerials for a long time.
The Reading Mack B TDA was one of the Macks that the body was built by Hahn. Mack also used Hammerly (Late 1970's) and Boyd (earily 1910-1920's) to bulid bodies.
The Salt Lick Twp. VFC of Indian Head,Pa. (Fayette County) has had "bumper-pumpers" from 4-Guys for over 25 years, and their latest version was delivered in 2000. 4-Guys built this monster on a 4-door Freightliner FLD 120 chassis, with a 1500 GPM pump, and a 1000 gal. tank.

Bruco built on many chassis, but White Xpeditors were very few and far between, this is a 1984 model with a 1250 GPM pump and a 1250 gal. tank.

And, if it is that truck, it has an 82' aerial, truncated to fit in the very short house. When I visited their station many years ago, the back wall was completely dented in because they had to touch the back wall with the tip of the aerial to close the bay door. Same truck?

A 1 of a kind combo, albeit much-traveled - originally Bryn Mawr, PA., then Trappe, PA., and then to Conemaugh,PA., in Cambria County.

I haven't come across many commercial-chassis Pirschs in PA., and I figure this has to be 1 of the last Pirsch apparatus from the original factory.

Only a handful of Young Bisons went to PA. depts., and this is a rare bird, being 1 of 2 built on a Walter chassis. This 1500/750 engine went to the Willow Street VFD in Lancaster County. This 1973 rig lasted about 25 years before being replaced.

Brockways are always cool as fire apparatus!
This 1974 Brockway/Bean 750/750 engine was at Creekside, PA. in Indiana County. It originally was at Solomon Run VFD, in Cambria County. I believe this piece has since been replaced. 1996 photo by Warren Jenkins
In 1994, Rockville VFD bought 2 Duplex/Saulsbury 1250/750/50 engines with all the trimmings. By 2002, however, both were sold so RVFD could purchase a Pierce Dash rescue engine. This one, which ran as E-32 in Rockville, ended up with the Alum Bank VFC in Bedford Co.

An unusual combo is this 1985 Pierce Dash chassis with a huge Ranger box. This monster also had a 450 GPM pump with 230 gal. of water, and was replaced a couple of years ago.

This is a for-real one-off fire apparatus, built by the Super City Manufacturing Co. of Somerset, PA. Another dump-truck builder, mainly of coal-hauling rigs, this 1975 Ford C-800, 500/1600 tanker was supposedly the only delivery by them to Salisbury,PA. in Somerset County. This photo from Aug. 1996, shows the rig OOS and for sale.

The Cumberland Valley Twp. VFC is in Centerville PA., oddly enough halfway between Bedford,PA., and Cumberland,MD. on U.S. RT.220 in Bedford County. Since their formation in the late 1970's, the fire co. has had quite a succession of 2nd,3rd, and in this case 4th owner rigs, this 1968 ChevyC-60 chassis with a 1957 Herman Born rescue body served as CVTVFC's rescue until a couple of years ago.
This rescue was originally built for the Laurel, MD. Rescue Squad by Herman Born &Sons Co. in Baltimore, MD. who mainly built beer truck bodies and placed on a used 1954 Ford F chassis in 1957. It was rechassied in 1961 (Chevy C-series) and again, to the present chassis in 1968. After replacement in 1973 by a new Herman Born body on a 1972 Chevy T-series chassis, the rig went to Reisterstown,Md., for several years and was sold to a vol. rescue squad outside Philly in 1978, from where it was purchased by CVTVFC in the early 90's. When a family member was lucky enough to photograph CVTVFC back in summer 2005, this recent acqusition was rolled out as their "new" rescue-pumper. I have this as a 1990 Young Crusader II 1500/1000/60, originally from Wayne Twp. IND., but which of the 6 is it? Ideas and opinions welcome!
