St. Louis Metro

next I traveled north up highway 109 from Eureka. I was headed to Moanrch station 2 and 5. The units that I wanted at both stations were not there, so I ventured off to Monarch station 1 to shoot their rescue and the quint housed there. The crew at house 1 was also very friendly and they welcomed me into the station. I interrupted their lunch, so they let me shoot around in the bays until they were able to come out and move the rigs.
First shot is of the station as seen from the street. Housed here are quint 2212, rescue 2216, medic 2217.
Just as they finished up their lunch, they were heading out to move the units, when 2212 got dispatched to an automatic alarm sounding. I was able to get shots of them leaving, but I guess the quint and rescue are cross staffed because the only guys I saw left in the station were the paramedics. So I tried to get indoor shots of it. Here is 2212 responding.

I wanted to stop by several other departments today, but with the weather I wasnt able to.
I still have the rest of summer to make up for today!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I dont think they have gone down since they became Monarch. I know they went a couple years back when they were Chesterfield. The weather did put a damper on things. I went out to Pacific to shoot their Pierce Dash ladder and their engine, but they both were outside with the cabs up getting looked at. Also the rain started back up again, so I decided to head back into St. Louis County. After going by Eureka, Im starting to think about becoming a fire explorer with them. It sounds like it would be alot of fun and a great learning expiernce. I just dont know if I could balance being a Police explorer, fire explorer, work, then school when it starts back up. A friend of mine from school is a city FD explorer, he just graduated from high school and is now a volunteer with Eureka. I dont know what I should do, I have some thinking to do. If I ask opinions on what I should do, I know 99% of you would say do fire explorers. I guess I'll get some more info on it and maybe attend a meeting or two.
Is Eureka is a Vol. FD or are they a combo FD.

Eureka is a combo FD, the majority is paid.
Thanks, that what I thought but I wasn't sure.

Great Shots Phil! I know a paramedic out in Monarch. He used to be stationed at the 4's with my dad.
Anyways, speaking of the 4's. They were running reserve 119, one of the 1987 Pierce arrows, the other day and i helped myself to as many shots as i could (not including the inside of the compartments). Turns out they blew a belt on the smeal. They should have it back by now. By the way.... Whats with all this rain!!!!!! its pouring in jefferson county right now!!!!
NIce shots Ben. The Pierce quints are looking pretty rough.
The rain is starting to p**s me off. Its rained everyday for the past week. I need to get my desktop scanner back up and running, it was too expensive to drive around yesterday. My portable scanner uses batteries fast so I just keep it plugged in when Im in the car. Is it as slow in the city as it is in the county lately. There arent even alot of EMS calls!!!
It is VERY slow here! This sucks! i just got a trash can fire on the way home from my friends house but that has been it for about two weeks! I hear ya about the batteries! my scanner just eats them too... I bought a power inverter from walgreens awile back, so i keep my ac adapter with me and use my batteries on the fireground only(when there is a fireground)
Nice Cab shots Ben so very unique shots.
