I hope this doesn't ruin the momentum of this post but I'm going to add a couple. First is this 1979 Oshkosh M4000 1800/4000/515F #2 asYellow 1.

The number located above the cab door designates the Station assignment. Yellow 1 was assigned to Station 24. For some reason, the 4 has been removed.



I plan to begin posting the 7th Battalion this evening.

There are also two of these.

Yellow 2 ran this 1999 Colet Jaguar K/R-40, one of four that they ran. All four were 1250/4000/250F.

Yellow 3 ran another K/R-40. Twin 800 horsepower Detroit 8V92 Diesels could make these things hit 140 MPH! The other two ran as Yellow 1 and 4. All four are now out of service.

Yellow 11 was one of five Colet K-15 Jaguars that are now in reserve. Each one was a 1250/1500/100F/500DC. The elevating/extending nozzle had a reach of 27 feet. Yellow 11 was the first delivered, back in 1995. The other four trickled in between then and 1999.

Here's a shot of the last of the five to be delivered, in 1999. Since this was to be a dedicated reserve and the other numbers were already in use, it was decided to call this one "Yellow 0", but that didn't last long.

Yellow 13 was assigned this 1991 E\-One Titan 1800/2000/260F/150H with a 50' Stratospear telescopic water tower. This one may still be in reserve, but I'm not sure.

What's the story with the Colet rigs, why did they disappear so quick? They were kind of neat looking...

Yellow 2 used to run this 1979 Oshkosh M-4000 1800/4000/515F and was one of three delivered that ran as Yellow 1, 2 and 3. Yellow 4 operated an M-15 (same specs/new designation) that arrived in 1982.

This is Yellow 3's old M-4000.

Yellow 9, 10, 11 and 12 were once assigned four identical 1981 Oshkosh T-6 1100/1000/205F/500DC. Like the M-4000's, these have all been disposed of now.

This pic was taken when Yellow 14 was a reserve rig. It's a 1972 Yankee-Walter CB-3500. Specs were 2000/3500/500F. Atlanta also had a similar 1970 model.

I don't have all the info on this rig. It's a 1975 GMC/Fire Boss with an 1100 pound dry chemical agent system that was operating as Yellow 8A when I took the pic. It was replaced in 1990.

I heard they were complete junk, almost from day 1. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsdown.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I know one of them got it's boom knocked off when, after training whince the boom was raised, they suddenly remembered they forgot to lower it as they entered a tunnel under the runway. A great big "Whoops" there.

Tomorrow morning (6-16-07) at 10, the City of Atlanta will auction off several surplus vehicles including the former apparatus of Yellow 1 and Yellow 10, both are Colet Jaguars. Also, one of the 1990 Spartan/Quality pumpers is on the block.

Here are a few more rigs that have served the Atlanta airport. I'm holding off on posting the pumpers until I get back to the airport and straighten out a few details.



Yellow 16, a 1991 Spartan/Ladder Towers, Inc. 110' TDA, is now known as Ladder 41.

This 1999 Spartan/Ladder Towers, Inc. 100' TDA was delivered as Yellow 18, but is now known as Ladder 43.
