I'm going to be in LA next August and I want to ride out with LA Co. Fire (station 127 or any if possible).
127's is actually a pretty boring station, in the middle of an industrial area and isn't one of the busiest in the county. If you want some action, try 164's or 3's. I would figure everyone and thier brother wants to ride a along with 127s, so you might want to try a different house.

Try the PIO office (323) 881-2411

Recently we did a story at the California Youth Athourity in Camarillo and interviewed a number of girls that were on the fire crews. At least with CYA, which staffs crews for CDF/Cal Fire, they explained to us that you were only eligible for the fire crew in the last two years of your sentence, and you had to have had a spotless record "inside" and maintain that spotless record while on the crew. One of the gals we interview, and she was a rather pretty gal, someone you never would think would be in jail, was in for murder (At age 13 none the less) and she was on the fire crew. There were a number of girls on the crew that were in for murder, ADW, viloent crimes.
The girl did a murder at age 13 and she is in the last 2 years of her sentence now? Yeah I KNOW she is 'only 13' but does anyone else see a problem with that!?!??!?! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Banghead' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Banghead' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Banghead' />

In CA, if you're tried as a juvenile and sent to CYA, regardless of the crime, you're released at 25 and your records are sealed.

While breezing through the KME factory last week for a final inspection, there were about 10-15 Predators for LA in various states of production, including a bunch of pumpers, a tillered quint, and a heavy rescue. There were also three white Predator pumpers for Santa Barbara County.

••••• The three Predator pumpers you saw at KME are some of the eight pumpers that have been delivered to SANTA BARBARA COUNTY FIRE.
I believe that the heavy rescue you wrote about is the new Haz Mat 130. I say this because, I was talking to a Captain at one of the other HM stations, and he told me that they had one being built as we spoke (earlier this month). It is not like the other current HM units. This one being a straight framed rig. He was saying that it would be delivered sometime in April or May and on the streets by July at the latest.
These new H-M DeCon Units may be what you were told were new Haz-Mat vehicles. These are assigned to Stations 118 and 135. I believe that four will be placed in service around the county.

••••• This is the new Heavy Rescue (still slated for USAR Task Force 103) not yet in service. I has been in storage at Station 129 and in service training should begin soon.

Cool Shots

I know for sure there is another Haz Mat slated to go to the Lancaster\Palmdale area it would have been Haz Mat 130 but with USAR 134 moving to 130's the new Haz Mat which will be a straight axel not a tractor trailer like 43,76 and 105 will go to 129's
