Here are a few more recent shots from my home state of North Carolina. These shots were taken with fellow board regulars Andrew Messer and Benjy Grice last week. For the most part, we had a good time but like all trips it seems like we go on, there was one bad apple out of the bunch.

Up until a few years ago, the City of Hickory had volunteers, but the volunteers only responded out of this station (station 6). This was the volunteers rig but the volunteers have since disbanded so this truck is a reserve now.

Before Benjy joined us, Andrew and I stopped at a certian dealership of fire trucks which also does refurbishing. After telling them who we were, they let us go around under their supervision, look and take pictures of rigs, both new ones and ones in repair. We were treated like criminals and as soon as we left, we were chased down in the parking lot and told that due to privacy laws that we could not post pictures on the internet of the wrecked trucks we had just been led around to look at. The excuse they gave was complete BS, but I will grant their request and not post those pictures. Needless to say, we were both furious at how we were treated and probably will never return. Anyways, I'll get off my soapbox and continue posting.

After St. Stephens we stopped by the Catawba County Firefighters museum and shot several rigs there. Unfortunately, they were all indoor shots and mine didn't turn out too well so Andrew will have to post them. The next stop was West Iredell FD.

I'm not sure if the Rescue Squad merged with the fire department or what the exact details were. Benjy or Andrew, do you know if the squad is still in existence or what?

And here is the rig I was referring to earlier. Anyone recognize the graphics scheme and the bus-style doors? If you guessed Phoenix, you would be right. This tractor now pulls the USAR trailer for Troutman. Unfortunately, we couldn't convince them to pull this one out.
