This truck I think was the first Ambassador WLF delivered to the Orlando area. If anyone has the serial#

for this truck or any other pics or different info please feel free post it.

As I've said before, the list I have gives the location, not necessarily the FD name. I have a listing for Plantation, FL. 80-224 is shown as a 1968 and is the first Model 80 in Florida. Is Plantation near that FD? Did Plantation ever have any WLF Model 80's?

Those last two pumpers are P85 models with the motor located between the driver and officer. I'm not sure which number goes with which rig.

Can someone answer this question. Rochester, NY had a 77 Ward LaFrance, then at some point it was sold to Blossburg, Pa., now a member of our club owns it. What would have been the original paint scheme for the Ward during it's days in Rochester. Thanks.

They run white over red now, but around that time it was cream over red IF my memory serves me right. I will see if I can find a pic of the color scheme.

OK I can correct myself. During those years they went with White over Yellow Apparatus. RFD Engine 1 1974 Ward Lafrance.

I agree that it was likely the white/lime yellow paint scheme when built. Can you get the spec number from that rig? It should be on the same plate that shows the pump capacity. Technically, the only 1977 they had was 80-1454. It should have a 1500 GPM pump and 500 gallon tank and be diesel powered. Correct me if I'm wrong, that's just what I've been told. Thanks!

Ga Dave and Nozzlenut, thanks for the info. I will be back up there on Thurs afternoon. I will bring my camera and take some pics of the truck and try to get some specs off of it too.

I think that I came across this engine today in Lake County Florida at there Fire-Rescue shop in Astatula Florida on SR-561 and SR-48. I could not find any of the serial numbers on the unit but on the pump panel it had on there the date 1967 and this engine looks identical to this one except the beacon-ray in the middle of the roof had been removed and a twinsonic lightbar added. it is lettered for Lake Fire Rescue Dept. and Fire Explorers Post. The Ops Chief told me that he thought that it was originally one of the Astor VFD engines in the far north east section of Lake County Florida. I did ask if it was going to be surplused out of the fleet and he thinks it is going to be donated to there IAFF Local for parades and such. I wanted to get a picture of it but it was wedged in with some other older vehicles on there grounds and wasnt able to get a shot. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fireman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

It sure does! Do you have any info on it? It's a Statesman. Possibly a 1972. These rigs typically had twin 1000 GPM pumps, 3000 gallons of water and 500 gallons of foam. I've been told that Philly had two.

Consolidated Engine Co. of Tarrytown NY ran this 1974 1500/500 for twenty years before replacing it w/ an E1.

Locke Ny was still running this 1974 1250/1000 as of a couple of years ago.

Here's a John Kenealy photo of one of Syracuse's Ward LaFrance Statesman crash trucks. We had a matched pair of these in the 1970's, both are long gone now. Not sure of serial numbers, next time I'm at Station 4 (the Syracuse Airport station) I'll see if they have anything in their old records.
