I see that rig is in front of a Wal Mart. When a new WM opened recently in one of our neighboring towns, the world's largest retailer gave a donation of $65,000 to the Pompton Lakes Riverdale First Aid Squad, the all volunteer no fee BLS that's served since 1935. Sure wish they had been just a mile up the road in my squad's territory but that's ok.

The ambulance was purchased not too long before the WalMart opened. I dont know if WM had any play with Kirkwood getting two ambulances or not. Kirkwood did stop ambulance service for about 10 years, then when the city became busier with the addition of this shopping center and a few others, Kirkwood went back to offering EMS.
These guys sent some trucks and medics down to Jackson County,Mississippi after Katrina to help us out.I think they were on a FEMA contract.Stayed for 3-4 weeks was nice having the extra help and they were really nice.
Acadian Ambulance unit 232.Unit works out of pascagoula,ms station.2002 Chevy 3500 with Excellance box set up like a Frazier with Onan generator powering the box.Acadian is sole provider for Jackson County MS and approx 70% of Lousiana. They also have 6 helicopters and 2 or 3 fixed wing planes for aeromedical transports.
Did not realize Ecelllance would do something like that. But then again with a customer as large as Acadian is guess they would. Aren't the Acadian units usally green/gold? Do MS have to be white/orange? Thanks in advance, Neal Craig

Two questions of interest about this truck: 1) do you notice any advantage in visibility of the unit using the staggered placement of the lights on the front of the module versus aligned horizontally across the front, and 2) are the high wattage flood lights on the sides worth their cost?
Sorry about that big pic,I didnt realize how big it was till I posted it.The lousiana units are white over green with gold striping.MS requires white with orange stripe because in their words"that is what the public thinks an ambulance should look like."I think this might have been an acadian shop box build off an excellance box that was unmounted.Acadian is big on fraziers and I think they redid some of the excellances to match.Ive seen some excellance engineers look over this one close since they hadnt really seen one before. The flood lights are well worth their cost,so much more light than those dinky 2 squares most trucks have, and the truck has a generator running the box so powering them isnt an issue. For the front warning lights I think the staggered is more noticeable behind you when you see it but whether it makes a big difference in being seen Im not sure.Oh yeah this truck is a gas engine (6.0v8) with around 251,000 miles on it.
