As far as I know it does both functions.
The Rescue is staffed with at least a few paramedics and can transport if necessary. Typically, they do not. The only time they do is when Professional Ambulance (the private that has the contract with the city) does not have ALS available.
Bet none of you remember this guy. It was originally painted white and was finally assigned to the shop
Nice photos, thanks for posting. Oldies are always goodies!

Engine Company 5 City of Woburn Ma Fire Department "I'd rather be stretchin......" Quote:Spare Ladder 4 1988 Pierce/1976 Maxim 100’ TDA. The spare ladder was heavily damaged in an accident late last night (MON night). Radio traffic was brief but the crew requested several ambulances, a BIG wrecker and C-1 to be notified. Heard today that someone blew a red light and hit the cab broadside. Luckily, the brand new tiller was out of service for repairs. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

In my day they had an international lighting plant and an old Army jeep that for a time became the mechanics truck Then they had an old yellow Seagrave that came from an airport. Then an old MAxim engine and an old Hose wagon[/quote] ------------- Hi, The old yellow Seagrave was actually a 1956 Seagrave 1000 gpm pumper from Beverly MA. It came to Beverly Fire brand new and quite red. When it got old, it went to the Beverly Civil Defense which was based at the former Nike guided missle site adjacent to Beverly Airport. This group had it all worked over and put into good shape, then it was painted the chrome yellow (like a school bus). It eventually was sold to the Somerville Auxilliary. If you have, or can find a pic of it in the chrome yellow, would you please post it for the group. Thank you. BrobMa - Bob Battis |
