Based on the grille alone, that was either a 1971 or 72 Suburban.
Quote:Their Truck Co. was this 1969 ALF/Snorkel, 70 ft.
<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/bitch.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> NO, NO, NO! It's NOT a Snorkel! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
It's an AERO CHIEF. The generic term would be Articulating Platform. Check the website:
DISCLAIMER: Although factual, the preceeding message should not be taken too seriously. The intent was to inform, not criticize. I do appreciate the photo. After your photo was taken, it was repainted yellow. Registration #7-1-1697 was later sold to Bonham, TX and repainted red again. Also, thanks for posting the Richardson WLF, Spec #80-229, I had never seen a shot of it before. And the Suburban was a 1971. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blah.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Here are some more past and present rigs from my photograph collection. Any spec. corrections or assistance would be appreciated. Sorry about the quality of some of the photos as photography as been an ongoing learning experience. Hope you enjoy!!! Thanks, Robert.
This first photo is a 1963 Ford/FD built grass truck (1A-Wagon).
Here is one of Richardson's reserve engine back in the 70's-early 80's. It's a 1953 GMC/General, 750-300. It was one of 2 but I never was able to get the second one photographed. Richardson is a northern Dallas suburb which presently has 6 stations for those of you not familiar with the area.
Richardson got into the paramedic business back in the 70's and this was a reserve ambulance which served as a BLS unit prior to the transition. 1975 Chevy/Summers (ex.-Amb. 31).
This was one of two engines that were stationed a Central Station back in the 70's. 1-Engine was a 1972 ALF, 1000/500. Can anyone refresh my memory and tell me what the spherical tank just in front of the hosebed was for? I think it mixed foam with water????
Finally!!!!!!!!! Here is the second engine from Central Station, a 1963 Mack C-85, 1000-500, 8-Engine.
Bob:
This would be a C-95 as it has a 1000 GPM pump. A C-85 would be a 750 GPM pump.

Shoot, Lindsay. There sure were a lot of ALFs in your neck of the woods once upon a time. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Thanks for sharing another great set of pictures from Texas, Bob!

Yes, there were a lot of ALFs out and about in the area.
I guess the old adage from Mack wasn't taken seriously-"Quality Counts!" <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/idea.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
Sorry I had to end my posting last night. Here are some more photos. First is Richardson's first Truck Co. I believe. It was a 1967 WLF/HiRanger, 75 ft. (1-Truck). Back then it had a 2 man crew. The engines had 3 man crews.
