Have the new Crimson rear mounts arrived yet?
The first of the four ladder trucks has arrived at the shops. It will probably go to Truck 24 sometime in March or April. The other three ladders and the 10 pumpers will begin rolling in next month.

Dallas FD has taken delivery of this latest batch of Spartan/Crimson engines......
WoW I never thought it would happen The DFD with REAL Q Sirens. That is fantastic!!! NOTE: Dallas never ran Q sirens they always had B&M Siro Drift Sirens. The Siro drifts faded away from new rigs in the late 1970's and those horrible electronic sirens came. Although from what I remember the rigs with Siro Drifts kept them their entire career on the DFD. Stay Safe, Rick

They had been running their PA-300's in manual mode off the foot switch for several years, in the spirit of a Q siren, but without that wonderful sound..... Get this though....all the new trucks with the Q's also have the electronic sirens, Whelen models, with that "Howler" sound on a momentary switch. So you might hear a Q, an electronic, and then the Howler, which sounds for about 12 seconds if they hit a switch that activates it. And in true Dallas fashion all of the clear lights stay on regardless of whether the rig is in "blocking mode", unlike the majority of new apparatus where the clear lights shut down when the parking brake is activated.

We are doing a trial on a B and M mechanical right now and would welcome input from past users.... Bruce
Thanks for the correction. Do you know when it will be going into service?

Bruce
Not to butt in on Rick's chance to reply, but Dallas and many other suburban Dalas departments in the 50's and 60's ran B&M SiroDrifts. Dallas last oredered them on the 1978 model American LaFrance Pioneer III pumpers and ladders. Nonone around here has ordered them since, however Cedar Hill has placed an ex-Dallas B&M on their Pierce Dash quint. The B&M doesnt have as high a pitch as the Federal Q and as far as I know there were no problems with them. Actually until recently I was unaware B&M was still in the siren business.
