This is the 1989 Ford F350 that was originally used by Kentland MD then sold to the Bakerton WV VFD. Firebody is a Marion which includes a Hale 400 gpm pto pump and 300 tank. Truck is presently owned by a private collector in Ohio.

According to their web site; BFD7.com, they have received a Ford/4-Guys rescue pumper from Murrysville,PA., and a 74 Mack CF engine from Berlin,MD. Most of the oddball stuff is gone, the only piece still 4-sale is the FWD tanker.

I have heard that construction will soon begin on a station located in the village of Bakerton. Also, this outfit was renamed the Bakerton VFD over a year ago, when the decision was made to be a full-service VFD, rather than just specializing in tanker operations.

Great news to hear things are moving forward for them!!

I was in the Harpers Ferry, West Virginia area several weeks ago and dropped by the Bakerton VFD. Thought you might enjoy an update on their progress. Things appear to be moving ahead nicely.



The new station is being built. It is on the same land as the earlier photos (page 1 of this thread).

The apparatus is still kept outside. Here are the ones that are being kept just behind the station under construction.



My understanding is that they still have the tractor trailer tanker, but it is not kept with the other apparatus. I was told earlier it was kept at a members house.

Last one for this update. I believe this is the "newest" arrival to the Bakerton fleet. Hopefully someone can identify where this Mack CF ran.

That CF Mack looks very similiar to one that was just replaced in Berlin, Maryland.

The Mack did come from Berlin, MD. They got it sometime this past fall I think.

When I went to Berlin in the middle of July the rig was sitting out behind their firehouse. I asked who it was sold to, and they told me somewhere down south. Glad to see it found a good home!

So does this dept. have an actual coverage area?



There's a FD in Ohio near me that was started with nothing more in mind than "assisting" the Fire depts that already cover the area that this dept. sits in. They do have a small area they cover, more like a sub station for the providing township dept.

Nice work Mike! BFD7.com has been updated and also lists a 1984 Ford C/Darley from Monaghan Twp.,PA., and a 1974 Dodge brush as recent additions.

Bakerton does have a "first-due" area since they are 5-7 miles from their mutual-aid depts., but they will be running at least dual response with these depts. for all but the most minor of calls for the forseeable future.

Another VFC is being formed in western Jefferson Co. in the village of Middleway, between Inwood and Charles Town. It will be known as Co.#6. Jefferson Co. is being developed as quickly as its neighboring counties in VA. and MD., and the emergency services are trying to keep up.
