Dale City did purchase the Pierce from Lynchburg and it is being refurbed to fit the needs of Dale City as a support unit. It will carry the confined space equipment that has always been carried in a trailer, as well as some spill containment equipment and rehab supplies. This may have changed since I left. Drfeelgood can add or correct my info.[/quote]

Paganores10cue, do you, or anyone else have the job number on Rescue Engine 510?

Thanks for reminding me I need to add 510 to my list of trucks to shoot when I am back in northern va in late spring or early summer.

Dale City's 1981 Hahn/LTI platform left Virginia and found several years of service in Duncan, South Carolina. After being replaced by a Pierce Quantum tower there, it was sold to Abbeville County, SC. Abbeville County FD still owns this rig today and its kept at their headquarters station. Haven't got a chance to go shoot it yet, but its a planned trip at some point! From looking at the one picture of it on Abbeville County's website, it looks like the green stripes have been replaced by red stripes, but the truck is still white.

Fireman Joe I have quite a few. The Rescue is a 99/00 E\-One and as you will see the graphics changed over the years due to the local radio designation changes. This was one of the first E-Ones with a 10 year paint warranty which has come in handy since it has been repainted 4 times due to poor pait application. Currently there is a committee specing a new one to replace it in 2009.

Here is a pic when it first went into service with the 87 E\-One it replaced

Did Lynchburg Life Saving Crew remove the Roto-Ray before it was sold or did Dale City choose to have it removed?

IS that the same truck. THe body is different on this one than the Dale City Rescue. Also there are some other differences on the cab.

I am not so sure they are the same chassis either. A remount on the box would be easiest enough, but there are some changes on the cab that I doubt they would do on a rehab.

VFN,

Dale City removed the roto-ray because it is not part of their standard warning light package.

Wagon Master and Memphis,

Yes it is the same truck. It was referbed by the DCVFD shop to create more equipment storage and modernize/standardize the emergency and scene lights.

• The body had a window removed on each side and the back squared up to get more equipment storage space.

• Both the rear and front winch were removed and sold off

• Crew cab area turned into a command/ operations area

• Anything that would make you think this was a rescue was removed and sold off

• Aluminum rims were added

This unit got quite a make over but it still was 200k less than a new unit.

As a Bruco admirer, thanks for leaving the Bruco plates! Congrats on giving this rig a new life.
