Wow man!! A trip back in history and memories! You did this very well my friend! I remember a lot of these older houses and good to see all the new houses. The photo of the 8's, the old house was on the right where the flag pole is attached. Brentwood's house was a dozy to find as it was tucked away. Btw, Craddock was the first planned community in the USA!! http://www.historiccradock.org/ Portsmouth Fire Station 11 now serves that area.

I got lucky in Chesapeake, The only station that I couldn't nail down the original location of was #10. Portsmouth Station 11,s CVFD's old house I believe...and that was their second station...But I'm getting ahead of myself here <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='  ' /> Portsmouth's probably going to be my next trip, in the next month or so sometime

Engine 10 is one of three squrts. Engines 2,4, and 10 are all squrts. Station 10 Bowers Hill Station 10’s located at 629 Homestead Rd, just off S Military Highway and is the southernmost of the three stations located in the city’s northwestern panhandle. A couple of quick corrections on info and such!
Engine 28 is career staffed (Lt and 2 firefighters) rather than Volunteer staffed. Engine 10's one of 3 Squrts in Chesapeake...the other two are Engines 2 and 4

Great job and nice pics. Been to Chesapeake City twice in my life. My aunt moved down there from NJ almost 20 years ago and married a guy from there name Ray. When they got married in June '94 we all went down to Chesapeake for the wedding. My new "uncle" Ray had a brother-in-law named Barry who was a Battalion Chief on the job in Chesapeake. Uncle Ray set up a day trip for BC Barry to take my father, cousin, uncle and myself on a little buff trip to a couple of Chesapeake stations. When we stopped at the old E-3, we actually met Frank Young and spent a considerable amount of time talking to him. What a nice guy! I remember him well as he was also originally from New Jersey, and had tried to get on the FDNY back in the early '80's, but couldn't due to the lawsuit that a bunch of women hopeful candidates had brought against the city alleging discrimination, and thus holding up the hiring list for several years. I was very upset when I heard that Frank had gotten killed in the line of duty just about 2 years later.

A sad day and it should had never happened!! The funeral would rival some of the FDNY!! Firefighter Specialist, John R. Hudgins, Jr. & Firefighter Specialist, Frank E. Young March 18, 1996 While fighting an intense fire in a commercial building, both were trapped and killed by a roof collapse.
