One of the benefits used to be areodynamics, but with LED bars being so thin now, I don't know if you can claim the v-shaped lightbar is more aerodynamic. The main benefit is visibility from the sides, especially entering an intersection.

Federal Signal marketed the V bars on their side visibility. You've got to remember that they came out long before the advent of LED lighting, so it was primarily just strobe, halogen and incandescent lighting.

You can watch the video that Federal Signal put together to market the V bars to the fire/EMS service.

Is this a new truck and if so who built it? The rear door looks like a different style then then Saulsburys. I don't see a builder plate on it.

I am trying to locate the street address in Queens for the main NYPD Fleet maint center. I scrolled these pages with no luck.

Thanks in advance for any help

Don't know the address but I believe its in the Maspeth section of Queens near the Brooklyn Queens Expressway in the area of Calvery Cemetery. Just look for the building with the antenna farm on the roof. It's one of those places I know how to get to but couldn't tell you how to get there. I was there for a meeting about six months ago and very few vehicles were parked on the street. Years ago you could find dozens of vehicles parked up and down the local streets. I have to think you would start getting alot of attention if you started taking pictures, not that taking pictures is illegal but you wants to argue with a NYC cop?

They cant argue with you if you are 20,000 feet up in the air, LOL
