Thank You... No, I can't say that I did see the Velocity. My trip was a 2-day pre-construction meeting with Lutherville, Md. so I didn't have much time to look around in depth....

This morning, Pierce delivered the first five engines to Siddons Pierce, the local Pierce dealer for Austin,TX. Two additional identical engines and two 100' RM Quints- 1 on a Velocity chasis as a trial, and the other on a Quantum, are expected in the next couple of weeks.



Some noteable features:

-Diamond Plate Compartment mounted on the rear of the cab, transverse right above the walkway for backboards

-Diamond Plate Compartment on roof accesible from pump panel walkway for cribbing

-High visibilty front bumper

-Federal Signal Q Siren and Federal Signal Electronic Siren

-Front "Brow Light"

-Rear Chevrons

-Tomar lighting packages.

Nice trucks. I thought blue lights were only for police cars.

Another shot showing the wheelbase of these engines. They really like the top-mount pumps, apparently, but I'm suprised an urban department would want the wheelbase that came along with it.

I heared that the foam pumpers will be assigned to Engine 20 & Engine 28.

When Engine 28 get's there new pumper there old pumper will be move and ressigned to Engine 50. Also I was told that Quint 27 will be the Pierce Velocity 105' quint, and there 2003 Pierce Quantum 105' qunt will become a reserve.
