Great photos. Do you know the history on Morton Grove. They operated a Pirsch Ladder truck 1960's model. Did the Squad replace it? I read some where the Squad was also designed as a City Service Truck Company. If so why was the ladder truck disposed of and now they have a Smeal Quint? Thanks for the info.
Also does anyone know if Niles and Evanston are going to replace their TDA's. They are getting dated early 1990's. Will they stay with new TDA's, after all tillers are the best.
Well let me try my best to answer those questions. As for the MG squad, it did replace the old Pirsch ladder truck/ Im not sure how many ladders the squad currently carries. They no longer run a "truck" since Niles runs into MG as the truck co.
The MG quint was purchased through a grant and I believe at the time, you could only get a "quint" from that grant, so that was the route they followed.
Niles & Evanston still run the TDA's. I would assume they would replace w/ the same thing, but i'm not sure. I believe Niles is in the market for an engine right now. Last year they purchased North Maine's 75' quint as a spare truck.
Heres a few pics from the North Aurora Emergency Vehicle parade Friday night. The rigs were not in a good position for the best photos and the sun was not in our favor either, but here's what I came up with.
