These are starting to grow on me as long as they don't have the goofy looking bus mirrors
This was one heckuva good day....many thanks to all the members we met and new friends we made!!!
The Lakewood rebuild from the east coast - possibly from Tallman NY?
I recently had the honor of helping deliver this rig through my employer.
Pearl City Fire Protection District, Pearl City IL was awarded a pumper through the FEMA grant process, and here's the result. Engine 3801 is a 2007 Spartan Metrostar/Toyne 1500/1000/25. TID# 9168 Note the 5" raised roof, and the lack of A/C condenser on the roof. The department's old station will not allow a taller rig to enter, so the condenser was mounted to the frame rail. I personally like the cleaner look.
Pearl City has luckily come upon some good fortune. The citizens recently approved a tax referendum, allowing a new station to be planned for construction in the next year. The department also recently purchased a used rig to be run out of their substation from a neighboring department, German Valley.
I don't have the year or any specifics about this unit, but the unit is an IH/Smeal with a Waterous 1250 pump, and the serial number is 491110. Both prior pumpers were very old and in serious need of replacement. I believe the body on one of their prior engines dated from the 1960's. Sorry for the crummy photo quality, we stopped to pick this rig up on our way back from Iowa after it had some service work done. I have two other rigs we delivered this month, I'll post them once they've been lettered.
I lied, and will post this teaser. Better photos when I can get them after it has been lettered.
Boone County Fire Protection District #2 purchased this demo from me. Spartan/Toyne 1500/1000/25. TID #9104. |
