My advice to anyone who wants to visit a FDNY Firehouse, is don't come empty handed. A box of sweets, bagels, etc. always welcomes Buffs!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/BananaMan.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Getting photos of rigs, I wait and hope to get the FDNY rig out on a run. This is mainly in Manhattan. Streets, traffic and bugging the Brothers are why I hate to do it. I also like getting them coming back or going out on a run. They have to have the street blocked either way so its not so inconveant. The other areas of NYC are not too bad. SI, Bronx are nice to set the rig in the sun where you ask - AS LONG AS THE HOUSE GETS A COPY ;-) and that is a small token that helps the next guy who wants a photo shoot too.
I might be dumb for asking this but when the fire boats are shooting off different color water streams what are they doing adding some kind of dye to it? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Yes. Just like the foam in the blue 55 gallon drums, they add the dyes to a few deck pipes to get the color. Information supplied to me from a former Member of FDNY Marine 9.
oh ok thanks! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I hate bugging fire fighters for pictures. In the warmer months I look for doors open, maybe firefighters around the floor. On the occasion I go to the door, I try and get a vibe from the crew before asking too much. If doors are shut in the afternoon hours I take that to be the crew is busy, eating or having a quiet afternoon. I also try to avoid sunday visits. Sunday afternoon NFL, or Saturday night hockey.
I have never buffed FDNY, but I plan on it.
Ya stop by my house when I'm working, I'll pull the rig out for ya. And the Battalion. I'll ask the truck. Can't guarantee it

Unfortunately, Bloomberg has asked for more across the board cuts, including FDNY ! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/eek.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ......Good luck with this round, Brothers !!

I would love to come up and visit a few FDNY houses one of these days but I don't have any idea how wheelchair friendly NYC is. That is the biggest reason why I have yet to take a trip up.
