Ladders 8 and 12, which is now assigned ST02007, originally assigned to Ladder 85 and later to the Bureau of Training. Their former 1999 tower was not repaired after the accident with Squad 18 in 2008.

Squad 1 came from Brooklyn, since Squad 18 was first due on the box and acted as an Engine (the job was across the street from their quarters).

You ain't kidding about Grano Trattoria right next to Squad 18's house...I took my wife there on our first date more than 5 years ago...been back MANY times since...anyone buffing in Manhattan, you have to try it! Truly one of Manhattan's undiscovered gems (hope giving the restaurant a good word dosen't violate a rule on this board - if it does I apologize!)

Hi everyone -

I'm definitely not trying to start a "FLAME" session but I am curious and would love for some quick and simple answers.

Regarding the volunteer fire depts mentioned a while back that exist in the city limits, are they official?

Do they have their own response zones?

Do they run mutual or automatic aid with FDNY?

How are they dispatched?

Any other information you could provide?

Thanks for the info!

Tower Ladder 138 appears to be the first unit to receive one of the new towers. Photo are on Seagraves website, under new deliveries. Looks very sharp!!!
