Boston Health & Hospitals 197x Chevrolet C-30, heading up New Chardon St. @ Friend. The box may be a Wolfington Coach. Note the gain-type UHF and VHF (for 155.340/.280 before MED channels) antennas on cab roof. My photo.

Lynn Fire Dept. Rescue 2, a 1974-5 Ford F-350 with a "builder unknown" box, heading up Market St. This box looks very much like a cargo truck body, with mods such as side compartments. This rig had 6-foot+ headroom, and bus-type stanchions inside as grab rails. Primitive, compared to "purpose built" modulars of the time, but she stood up to the beating LFD's rigs took during that era! My photo.

Wow, the elusive Rescue 2! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' /> I've heard of it, but never actually seen a picture. Thanks, Mike.

Thanks, guys! The daunting task of scanning thousands of photos, thousands of slides, and hundreds of negatives has just begun!

James, I may have a shot of LFD Rescue 1's Mack C/Gerstenslager loading a patient on Broad St. way back when. Yes, it had a cot hook! The lift from street to floor often required 4 men, due to roughly 1.5x the floor height as compared with a purpose-built ambulance.

Here's a few of Orland FPD's (Illinois) fleet of ambo's. All are pretty much the same design other then year/cab design changes.

Here's the officer's side of Lynn Rescue 2, at a box on Ocean St. in Lynn, 1979. Apologies for the sepia-toned image. Some of my older b&w negs have aged to this funky hue.

More funky Tri-X : Lynn Rescue, a 1976 Chevrolet/Modular Ambulance Corp. Did this rig replace the Mack C/Gertie as a transporting unit? My memory is foggy.
