My most recent outing was to Louisville, KY for yet another wedding on November 1st. I contacted fellow Firepics member Kent Parrish, who graciously accepted the task of spending a whole Friday taking me around to area stations. I was also able to get an autographed copy of his excellent new Iconografix book on E\-One apparatus. Mr. Parrish is a class act and we had an enjoyable visit while I photographed 27 rigs.

The wife and I arrived in the area on Thursday afternoon, with enough time to shoot a few stations.

I went to Shelbyville Station 2, but the crew was out of quarters. Next stop down the road was Simpsonville.

Actually, this rig has been retired for almost 10 years, the quint replaced a 81 Hendrickson/Pirsch, and a 1992 IH N/Frontline squad.

The body of Bloomington's mini is a 1977 originally on a 2-door Chevy K-30.

Sad to see the old Pioneer like that, it saw a lot of fire during its almost 30 years in service.

Here's a pic of it at a fire scene in 1991.

BTW, nice pics of Bowling Green and Bloomington, it's not easy up there to coincide sun and available drivers!

That is a unusual color combination but I must say that I really like it. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbsup.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Thumbsup' />

Many thanks to the Doc and Steve for the additional info. That Pioneer doesn't look like it's been sitting outside ten years. I was told that it was replaced by "the Sutphen", I just assumed it was the 2008 Sutphen, not the 1996 Sutphen! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Doh' />

Silver/blue is one of my favorite color combinations for fire apparatus. While I have been given great freedom with the specs I write for my FD, they haven't let me change the paint scheme......well, not yet!

The shots of Bloomington really don't show the "blue" color with the sun on it, almost looks white in the photos.

Its their local High school colors. They also have a sutphen engine thats a little lighter of a blue color doesnt look bad but I like the darker blue ones better
