Or do you draft from Bloomberg's personal heated diamond crusted gold lined pool when he isn't home? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/hysterical.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Hysterical' />

Well, we have the Hudson River(where that plane landed earlier this year), the East River, Harlem River, Long Island Sound, Jamaica Bay, Newtown Creek, Dutch Kills just to name a few.

Many more choices than just the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers,Tidal Basin, the reservoir across from E-29 or the MacMillan Reservoir near the old FD Comm Center.

Only the ECC's in training get to use Bloombergs pool. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/3_12_25v.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='3_12_25v' />
Kill 'em all, let Allah sort 'em out. NEVER forget 9/11/01 WTC, Pentagon, Pa. Avenge the acts with NO mercy.

Thanks to ALL the Brothers who were there 9/11/01 and afterwards. Words can never say what appreciation we have for you all.

Thanks for the info. I have been to NYC many times and couldn't even imagine a drafting operation in place, due to how industrialized the city is. I am more inclined to get lost in skyscrapers then the water sources. Do only certain companies carry the hard sleeve?

We still carry it on our wagons, but we only carry 2 sections. I heard a rumor that tankers could be on order for us, but it is strictly a rumor. In which case the hardsleeve might get more use, other then having to carry it around during PT in the academy.

All companies carry them. With companies being relocated citywide, one never knows when one ends up near water.

Those new Seagraves would probably still give water if there was in alligator in the pump.

They are certainly sharp looking rigs as well.

The new Seagrave pumpers use the top 3 suctions for drafting. They are 6" diameter and 2 are flexi soft and 1 is hard suction. On the Officers side is a 6" draft only hook up. The other lower suction is the standard 4 1/2 hydrant connection. There are many places that a draft can be done around the city. Although it is a rarely used option for FDNY.

Here is a shot of E-316 drafting. I took some photos at a 5th alarm in Astoria, Queens on 11-25-93. In this photo, taken from the ECC's side, the fireboat Gov. Alfred E. Smith can been seen operating in the background.
