I think that Shoop, Sr. might have been using sarcasm, Tim.

The good news is that it has a battery switch that is NOT used to start the piece as well, for everyone else who is not privy to the story.... at a firehouse in Upstate Pa there was a Freightliner pumper that I was tasked with putting away we photographed it (it was shut off at this point). I found the battery switch (a Cole-Hersee switch) which I turned on but I couldn't find the starter, so I got out to go and get help. Darin Smith (Truck 1882) climbed in and had it started up with in a minute, come to find out that the Cole-Hersee switch continues to turn after you turn the batteries on which is how the starter is engaged (so in other words, you continue turning the battery switch and it starts the truck up). He worked for a company that built box truck bodies and was familair with this starting device. So that is the story of why Pat is looking for the key and I take a hell of a beating about not being able to start fire apparatus (it is funny though and I do love it).
The bastard that did me in (except in silver)

Countryboy 88 requested shots from Franklin County, Pa which happens to be where I live, so I figured I would load up my car and go out and about before work a couple of days. Wound up catching hell from my fiance something fierce the one day but in the end I think it was worth it, this is not all of the apparatus or departments in our county only what I have managed to photograph so far.

My friend (and Co-worker) Tim pulled the apparatus out here, unfortunately there is not a lot of room at the Franklin's station. The downside of having a friend move apparatus is that you find it harder to be a pain in their butt than you do a stranger (in other words, it is easier to say to a stranger "Hey, can we please take the apparatus to the XYZ Parking lot"). These pics are a little dark, I am going to have someone take the apparatus to a school lot right up the street for pictures in the next month.

They have to still be working on it, there wasn't any other vehicles at the station so it must be out being built/worked on. They are getting set to replace the International engine with something else, I am hearing another commercial cab rig with a body by KME.
Fritz,
Nice shots. A couple in their I could use. Get ahold of me this weekend, they are calling for nice weather in Shippensburg on Saturday. I'll be riding at 52, but maybe we can set something up at 53, and 15.
