As most of you may know this past week featured the 2009 Winter Thaw in South Florida, I was invited this year by Mark Carr, Ron Arnow, Jack Mersereau, Dave Organ, John Degenhardt and James Kus to photograph rigs across SE Florida with them. I'd like to thank each and every one of them for organizing such a great event, I had an absolute blast!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

Below are photos I (FIREPIX21) captured this past week. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/BananaMan.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='BananaMan' />

Great stuff.

Alex,

Any chance the '01 Ferrara Inferno at Palm Beach County Spec Ops 34 is the rig formerly assigned to Spec Ops 31? If so, did they just move the company or did 31 get a new rig?

Thanks in advance.

Ladder 68,

Palm Beach County Special Ops 34 is indeed the company that used to be at 31. The entire team, engine, rescue and Splops rig, moved to 34. 34's crews and equipment moved to 31. This gave them better access to the western Palm Beach County areas such as Belle Glade, Pahokee and South Bay as well as easier access to the Turnpike and I-95.

Thanks for the information and quick reply. I now understand why E31 has the '06 E\-One Typhoon that formerly was at E34. What is E34 running now after the swap?

Now a stupid one.......aside from the Spec Ops rigs, did the engines and rescues swap for any specific reason? Compartmentation, different capabilities, etc?

Thanks.

Yep, if you're looking at the PBCFR Apparatus Gallery photos, I'm the one that took all those pictures. I try to keep the webmaster up to date but he's not as quick at updating as I am.

They swapped engines and rescues because they wanted to keep the rigs with the same crews that had been running them all along. The Splops engine does have some extra stuff on it but that wasn't much of a factor. It would have fit in the other one anyway. Special Ops Engine 34 is in the same Freightliner FL80/Ferrara 1250/750 that they were in at 31.
