FLORIDA RIGS
Any reason why some of the MIA units are a "mustard" yellow with red stripes vs the traditional MDFR scheme?
The main reason for the different color scheme is that the "FAA" green, on their color palett is a little more yellow. The crash rigs always came in a "standard" FAA green, so as some of the structural rigs were getting replaced, they decided to have them stripped like the crash rigs. The Airport Chief at the time we were replacing the crash rigs decided on the red stripe and seemed to like the look better. The only Airport truck currently in the color scheme consistant with the rest of the fire department is Rescue 12. However they are being replaced soon with a Braun Rescue on a Furion chassis and should be in the "Airport's" color scheme.

Miami-Dade County covers all the unicorporated areas of Miami-Dade County that don't have their own fire services. One County, One city, the city's in the county, and they both have their own fire departments. Sorta like Baltimore City and Baltimore County, or Los Angeles City/County I think.
kyle
Not quite, in relation to Baltimore. Baltimore City is not 'in' Baltimore County, it is entirely separate. It is set up as if it were it's own county, more like San Francisco.

Hey Alex, what all does Key Biscayne run? So far we've seen Engine 2 and Rescue 1. When I photographed the department years ago (they were still in their old location) there was a simon-duplex/saulsbury engine and a spartan/saulsbury 75' quint. I guess those are long gone? Thanks!

Q1 - 2001 Pierce Dash E2 - 2001 Pierce Dash R1 - 2006 International/MEDTEC R2 - 2006 International/MEDTEC all with the same graphics package as the R1 above.

srq2009,
I'm sure Alex doesn't want to get into the Key Biscayne issue. lol. I'll give ya a run down though. We stopped at the station the other day. They wanted nothing to do with us, and would much rather play basketball in the bay. We were very lucky to get a picture of the rescue. We asked a few times for the quint, before finally getting told no. The quint is identical to the engine except it has a 42' skyboom. We weren't even able to get any info out of them. 2003 Pierce Dash 1500/?/?/?/42'

Unfortunately not, a single man game of basketball took priority over him moving couple rigs around for us. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I think that's why I'm always a bit timid about visiting stations...mortified of hearing "who are you and why are you here?!" Ah well... I wonder what kind of run stats they have? I can't imagine that the Village gets an insane number of calls every day. Thanks for all the photos though, they're excellent! And thanks Alex for the info.
