Last one for tonight is a repost from the old board.

Please continue. I love to see rigs from the towns I drive through, eat in, stay in etc. when going to the General plant or driving to the Central States plant...

By the way, that's a HECK of a rig for a town the size of Forest Lake. Fairly small town, isn't it?

By the way John - would you care if I added a few Minnesota rigs that I've shot at the plant?

Joel: Be my guest and add the photos that you have. We call Kevin K, every couple weeks to try and shoot the new stuff up at General, if it is lettered. The Fitchburg twins are due at the end of this month and the rigs for Schaumburg are sometime in August- September. The are running behind, which is good.

Regarding Forest Lake, the city, with the anexation of Forest Lake Township now has a population of close to 20,000. The department covers 100 square miles, that include parts of other townships that are under contract.

When we were up there, the Chief told us that the department has trouble keeping up to date maps. If you have ever seen the entral station, you know that the rigs are stuffed in pretty tight. I was helping the Chief back the Bronto in and stopped him a safe distance away from the airboat, only to find out that I had to bring him in another couple feet to clear the front door. They are trying to get a new station in the next couple years, which will have drivethru bays.

Wyoming MN is the home of General Safety. Naturally, the fleet of the Wyoming Fire Department is made u of General Safety apparatus.

Please do! Not that I don't enjoy seeing all the Pierces, Seagraves, and E-Ones that everyone else in the nation runs, but I think we have some of the most distinctive rigs in the country with our own regional style here in the Upper Midwest.

Here are some from north metro area. I used to think that I was somewhat plugged in regarding what was going on in the Metro. We were humbled when we traveled to East Bethel MN and find that they added two stations since we were there last.

I've got a couple more old shots from my sub-par cam to share so we can keep this thread going.

Inver Grove Heights, MN: Engine 3684- 1985 Ford L/General Safety 1250/750

(I.G.H. also ran a 1979 Ford L/General like this one which is now sitting derelict at Dakota County Technical College)

Inver Grove Heights, MN: Truck 3680- 1988 Simon Duplex/Grumman Aerial Cat 1500/200/102' Platform

This was a former Grumman demo truck purchased to replace a 1972 ALF Aero Chief which had developed the notorious cracks in the booms which seemed doom too many Aero Chiefs. If anyone knows the final disposition of that rig, I'd be very interested in knowing.

Cottage Grove, MN: Engine 3125- 1990 Peterbilt/CustomFire 1500/750.

When these Peterbilt & KW rigs started appearing on the local scene here in the late '80's, they made me weak in the knees. I still think these are some of the most head-turning pieces of fire apparatus anywhere.
