Yes it was an open cab with the detachable roof acquired sometime during its 27 years in Pompton Lakes. During the last years of its life in Pompton Lakes it was out of service quite a bit due to mechanical problems. In the early 90's a committee started working on gaining approval from the mayor and council to replace it. In October 1997, a fire levelled a 40 year old strip mall built with that very dangerous wood truss roofing that required response from 14 area fire departments, something that made the cover story for FireHouse Magazine a few months later with this truck in action being on the front cover. It was replaced by a Pierce 100 foot aerial ladder in 1999 and this 1972 ALF went to Warm Springs, Georgia, Station 12 of Meriwether County. This is a shot of it shortly after arrival in its new southern home.[/quote]

That would be the Georgia State Flag. It has been for many years.

That is the old Georgia state flag plate that a lot of folks in the "Empire State Of The South" had. This was 1999 before they dropped the stars and bars from their flag. Actually I've found that the people there to be very nice no matter what their race, religion or other ethnic background is. However, many of those who I have met share a common pride in being from (a) Georgia and (<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' /> the south while being extremely patriotic Americans. No matter what their ethnicity is many will refer to northerners as being foreign but then smile and welcome us Yankees and laugh when I tell them "don't call me a Yankee, I'm a Mets fan!"
