I notice from Hughes website that they are apparently willing to work with people on design as well. Some dealers would prefer not to do that if they could possibly get away with it. Since there seems to be some interest in H&W rigs, here's some old shots I have. These are all circa '04-06. I'll post them in chronological order.



First up is the hosebed of Kirkland Engine 27. I think this is a late 90's Spartan H&W. I took this at a fire in Bothell in '04.

Here is Bothell Engine 42. Another Spartan H&W. Taken at the same fire as 27.

Kirkland Engine 25, taken at a fire in the Finn Hill area by my dad. It's a good shot of the hosebed layouts that are common to all of the Kirkland rigs. A couple years newer than Engine 27; identical to Engine 22.

King County Fire District 40, formerly Engine 42, now Reserve Engine 171. A 2002 Spartan/H&W. This was taken in the summer of '05 at a fire. KCFD 40 used to be its own department. As of 3/1/08 they contract with the City of Renton for services. On 3/1/08, the area formerly covered by Station 42 was annexed by the City of Renton.

Bellevue Engine 5, taken at a fire in '06. A Spartan/H&W. Engine 5's station is actually in the city of Clyde Hill. Engine 5's first due includes the cities of Clyde Hill, Medina, Hunts Point, and Yarrow Point, all of whom contract with Bellevue for fire services. It's one of the richest first due areas in the world. They're first due at Bill Gates' house.

Here are a few pictures from the King County Fire Department day held at the Museum of Flight. First up is a new Oshkosh Striker for the Boeing Fire Department. They have had this particular vehicle for about two weeks now. This is the third Striker to be stationed at Boeing Field. One of the three will be sent to Montana during some upcoming aircraft flight testing.

Next is an Oshkosh Striker from the King County International Airport (Boeing Field). They acquired this unit in October or November of last year.

Since the back end of engines built by H&W have been of interest lately, I though I would add a couple more.



The first is Engine 15 from Lynnwood, south of Everett. It is a 2006 Spartan/H&W Emergency Vehicles.

   



The second is a 2007 Spartan/H&W. Bothell has two of these in addition to a 2002 unit.

...and the companion Engine 44. It is worth noting that the Bothell Fire Department (King County) is combined with Snohomish County Fire District 10 (Snohomish County). They are dispatched by the Eastside fire dispatchers and are part of mutual aid zone 1 with other East King County fire agencies. That is the reason for the different door logos.
