Neat looking truck! Is the Austin/Travis Co area always getting new equipment? Seems like it, lol

Unfortunately that will probably slow as Texas is no exception to the current economic slow down. From what I understand capital apparatus purchases in Texas are anticipated to be down in upcoming FY2009-2010 by at least 10%.
Even Austin has changed spec to the Saber/Contender cab in lieu of the more expensive Quantum.

I ride in a Custom (Saber) Contender every day and for the past 4 years, the thing has performed much like its counter parts from the Appleton factory. For the money we saved by going the Custom Contender route, around $100k at least, we were able to turn around and purchase a medium duty Pierce Contender 16' Rescue to be housed wtih it. I've never really understood all of the depts. buying these $300 and $400k rigs, when you can get one in the $250 range that performs essentially the same functions with the same quality. Good job Austin!
