It was the county psychiatric hospital located on Fariview Avenue in Cedar Grove from the 1890's until a few years ago when the place was closed. It has been featured from time to time in the magazines and hardcover books of Weird New Jersey. The Buffalo was replaced by either the 1967 Oren-Great Eastern quad that went to Co. #1 or the 1967 Oren-Great Eastern pumper that went to Co. #2. The question is which firehouse was the Buffalo assigned to.
Joe, I remember seeing it at the Wanaque Co. 1 firehouse (Midvale) as a kid and whenver there was a fire in the Haskell area, it would pass my aunt & uncle's house a block north of Haskell School from the north. BTW, my grandmother's brother was one of your chiefs way, way back.

I just dug out an old 6x9 manilla enveloped and discovered it contained some treasures. It is a batch of old black & white negatives taken by the late Bill Schwartz and/or the late Jim Burner. Most of the negs are of older rigs operated by Point Pleasant Beach and Point Pleasant Boro, NJ. I will attempt to scan a psot a few of them.
They are of a film type/speed unknown to me. I'm guessing that the type of camera used was a Haselblad or Leica. These negatives are of two sizes. One set is 1.75" x 1.75" and the others are approx 2.25" x 2.25". I'm not sure how I'll do the larger negs, but the smaller ones seem to fit the slide adapter of my HP Scanjet 4070 scanner. I've tried it with a small negative. Scanned it, touched things up in Photo Elelments, and produced the image below. Might work out ok. Volunteer Fire Company # 2 of Point Pleasant, NJ had this beautiful 1957 Ward LaFrance "Fireball" 500/500 pumper. It was powered by a Chrysler Industrial V8 gasoline engine. This was my baby as I grew up here in town chasing this rig around on my bike. It was replaced in 1989 by a Hahn pumper and donated to small FC in Buckhorn, VA. [color="#FF0000"]Eatontown, NJ (where I worked for 22 years) once had this 1951 GMC 644/TASC pumper. It was equipped with a Hale HPZLHD25 500 gpm pump and a 500 gallon water tank. According to my records this was the first Trautwein rig to be assigned a serial number, 101. It was this 1956 IH R-196 pumper which was equipped with a 750 gpm Hale QL-75HD pump, a 650 gallon water tank, and a 20 gallon foam tank. Serial # 153 cost $15,817. This is a real trip down memory lane for me! Here's a shot that represents what I remember of the fleet operated by Point Pleasant Boro, NJ VFC # 2 when I was about 8 years old (I'm 53 now!). This image shows our first new rig in the center being our 1957 Ward LaFrance pumper. To it's right is a military style ambulance the FC operated as a utility vehicle. To the Ward's left is a 1942 Chevrolet 4x4 x-military hp/300 gpm pumper. This shot was taken prior to 1964 when the FC bought a 1964 Ford C/H&H pumper that replaced the 1942 Chevy. Also, the Ward LaFrance still had it's original siren. This was later replaced by a Federal Q. Point Pleasant Beach, NJ VFC # 1 (aka Ocean Fire Company) had this Mack B pumper. This was the last rig operated by this department that served it's entire career in a red paint scheme.
