In 1984 FDNY purchased two more unique Towers from ALF/LTI they had 1500gpm and 100' Stix This one assigned to TL-14 in Harlem replaced the Sutphen Tower. I was fortunate to see these two rigs in operation at jobs, they were MONSTERS !!!

Back in the summer of '99, I was working on the side with my father and came across this rig in a junkyard on Rt. 309, just south of Bethlehem, PA. It was sitting right alongside the road. Didn't have any company markings but I got a close enough look to see the MT-8204D.

She was in pretty rough shape to say the least.

First Mack TL delivered to the F.D.N.Y. with dual rear-axles. This rig was later assigned to 157 Truck in Brooklyn.

not bored at all yet.......its very interesting to see the evolution of markings, paint schemes and lighting over the years.

a small question tho about the Mack 'scopes. how can you differentiate between 75' and 95'? my guess is its NOT just tandem rears.......

The '95 footers were ONLY tandem axle, and have a noticeably larger boom. The first '95 footers were 1985 models and were assigned to TL's 12 & 172.

So far, all the ones I posted are 75 footers- The 95's (posting soon) have bigger (side)outriggers, and the boom sits higher

Quickie of TL-12

Doesn't Ladder 12 have a specially modified 95 footer? I thought I had read somewhere that they remove the escape ladder to fit in quarters and that TL relocators and TL spares will not fit in Ladder 12's quarters. Also do you have any C model towers to post or a shot of TL171?

As per E88/L38's 100th Anniversary Centennial book, this rig was a 1975 Mack FDNY reg# 7510, Received on Sept. 29, 1975. It is now in service in Puerto Rico.[/quote]
