why did they get rid of it? What was the need, isnt WOPFD small? Was it staffed?

West overland is a very small department. the operate out of only one house with 1 engine, 1 reserve and 1 medic unit and its reserve. My uncle's brother is also the chief of west overland and I also did my EMT ride alongs with them, very nice crew of guys and a very nice house... I don't know the stats on riverview but i know they are a small department also... hope this helps

Riverview still goes by the same name. They originally started out as the Riverview Gardens FD in the 1930s but later shortened it to Riverview. They have 2 stations with an engine at each house. Riverview is in 'north county', the part of St.Louis County that has a good ammount of fire work. My company caught 2 working house fires there last night in a matter of 6 hours. They've got good firefighters who put a good stop on each job.



As far as West Overland, they probably got talked into buying the aerial by the local Seagrave dealer. Back then almost every dept in the county was running Seagrave engines and a few bought Seagrave aerials as well. West Overland is small but they have a lot of commercial and a few high rises. I'm sure the ladder was jump-manned by the engine crew if it was needed. It never saw any work in town but made it to many historic fires out of town such as the Bayou Belle Restaurant fire and the Branneke Hardware Store fire.

Dunklin Fire Protection District is located in the Pevely region of Jefferson County. They respond from 1 station on Hwy Z approx 1 mile west of I-55. They operate 3 engines, 1 quint and a brush unit. The department ID # is 59.
