1940 Seagrave, semi-cab conv., serial no. A4370, painted 4-2-40, one-piece flat windshield, delvd as quad-had equipt basket on top, 260/250, housed 8-24-40, $13,600, purchased through MD firm, 270 in.wheelbase, overall length 40 ft 7½ on., weighed nearly 8 tons, delvd as 750/100, in the 1950s taken to Seagrave factory for retrofit with 65 ft midmount steel aerial ladder to become quint, while enroute motor blew-replaced with new 6 cylinder motor and repainted, in 1973 sold to Panama Fire Equipt who resold to Seminole Co.(FL) Community College where used for training, in 1977 transferred to Florida State Fire College where used for training, on Nov. 16, 1981 after being kept outside and vandalized-purchased by Jim and Carol Briggs-Clermont,FL, in 1993 housed inside with plans to restore, in 1999 displayed at winter SPAAMFAA muster in Kissimmee by Briggs in restored condition-member FABB (Florida Antique Bucket Brigade), in 1-07 acquired through trade by Jim Vogel-member The Dalmingo Society-Tampa,FL-SPAAMFAA chapter, 250 ft ground ladders

Here are some more of the pictures from my little sojourn to the north side of Lake Okeechobee. Okeechobee City and Okeechobee County both have their own departments --- for right now. Both departments have the same color scheme. The city has one station and the county has 4. The county does the ALS and BLS transport for all of the calls in the county and the city.



First up are the Okeechobee City Fire Department rigs. Truck 2 is a 1973 Ford F600/Local with a 500 GWT. It used to be all red.

Engine 5 also used to be all red. It is a 1982 GMC/Indiana Fire Apparatus 1000/1000 pumper.

Okeechobee City's Ladder 1 came from the Pinellas Park, FL Fire Department and is a 1982 Sutphen 1500/300/100' platform #HS-1683.

Okeechobee City's Engine 6 is a 1997 Pierce Saber 1250/1000 Pumper #EA520.

The last, and newest piece in the Okeechobee City fleet is Engine 7, a 2000 Freightliner FL80/Southern Coach/Deep South 1250/750 pumper.

Well, let's move on to the Okeechobee County Fire-Rescue Department. A few years back, they switched over from lime green to white with red stripes. They now have 4 stations but I only visited two. First up is an old ex-military tanker. I have absolutely no information on it. Any of you others out there know anything 'bout this one?

Next up is another refurbished ex-military rig. It's Brush 3, a 198? AM General with a 1000 GWT and booster pump.

Brush 7 is a 1983 AM General with a booster tank and a 1000 GWT.

Tanker 3 is a 1982 AM General with a booster pump and a 3000 GWT. All of these were put together by the department mechanic.

Tanker 5 was donated by a local company and outfitted by the department. It's a 1990 Ford L9000/Fruehauf 7000 Gallon Tanker
