The rigs are dressed in Mets stripes, as E-68/L-49 are dressed in Yankee pinstripes.

Can any FDNY apparatus historians give me some accurate data on the old Mack R/Hamerly heavy rescue that were in service around 1976-1979?

I have info that says just one was bought, another person told me 2. Maybe the one was moved and reassigned (?)

Iam writing an arrticle profiling Hamerly for FAJ

1 rig was bought in 1976.

FDNY Reg # MR7601.

It was assigned to Rescue 2. New the rig was all red and had a single beacon light on the roof. In 1984 the rig was repainted with a White upper area above the body compartments and a twinsonic light bar added. Also it was lettered for Rescue 5 when that unit was reorganized. It served for a bout 1-2 years before being replaced and made a Spare Rescue. It was then sold off in the late 80's or early 90's. Hope this helps. There are photos of both in this thread if you search.

Quick story relayed to me by the photog about this pic from a guy who knows L-5 Chauf:

This is too much of a coincidence for me not to mention it. The Ladder 5 Chauffeur I refered to in an earlier post is the man behind the wheel in the latest photo of the '91 Seagrave Ladder 5. I sent it along and he replied that he remembers the day very well. A guy stopped them and wanted to take the photo (nfd2004) as they were leaving the Rock. He was driving Lt. Michael P. Warchola, the officer in the cab in this photo. (Lt. Warchola was KIA on 9-11)

nfd2004 :

You Know what, I remember that myself. It was the first tiller ladder with that type of stripping that I had seen. I remember asking the guy if he would just hold up a bit, so I could get a quick shot of the rig. That was maybe 10-12 years ago, maybe even longer ?????? I think after I took the photo I said to the Chauffeur, "Thanks, you made my day". They were really good, and I remember the officer (apparently Lt Warchola) giving me a wave and a thumbs up nod. I could be wrong but I think they even invited me to stop down to the firehouse. Great Guys ! ! ! That is Amazing ! ! Thanks.

Does anyone know if Hamerly did the rehab?

Can anyone help me with a reliable apparatus roster for FDNY? (or at least where I could find any info)

Thanks
