When Fire House 1 moved in the late 1970's it was later found they needed the Fire House. It was reopened in 1981 as Fire House 3. It was a single bay single story store front in the downtown and had housed the department since being volunteer. The quarters were very tight so the fire house was relocated to the north side of the city.

Fire House 1

Built: 1953

NOTE: This is the only one I have ever seen. This is a building mounted 3M Optic-Com strobe. It was used to change the traffic lights on the corner in front of the fire house. This was due to the fact the corner was blind when the rigs pulled out.

NOTE: The two main machines respond out of the rear since the doors are wider and there is no hump in the street to bottom out on. The Hose Wagon Engine 12 responds to all fires. #403 the Brush Buggy responds out of the repair bay next to the hose tower.

EX Fire House 2

Built: 1975ish only used for five years about 1979ish.

NOTE: Even before the fire house was built the City argued the need. They built and opened the fire house and only used it for five years before closing it. The building has since been sold. Amazing the tax dollars wasted and the danger the city placed its citizens in. The response time for Fire House 1 is well over five minutes to the west side of Coffeville.

One remaining Fire pole from the bunk room removed from original fire house across the street. All living quarters are on the first floor. The second floor houses a locker room, and bunk-room. One pole was removed from a second Ambulance bunk-room when the EMS moved from the fire department.
