I would be willing to bet that it has a EQ2B on it. Everything that they've purchased in the past 3 years at least, even the units, have the EQ2B on them.

I was wondering how many of the Ford TDA's are still in service? Does MFD have any plans to replace these with new TDA's or will they all receive traditional Ladders / Platforms?

Two Ford Pirsch Senior Aerials remain in front-line service. They are assigned to Trucks 6 and 21. Although there has been talk/rumors of new TDA's on and off, the odds of new rearmounts to replace these trucks is more likely.



In addition to the two front-line senior aerials, several remain in the reserve fleet as well and see regular use. I can think of at least four reserve ford/pirsch senior aerials, as well as an additional three; two that are pulled by 70's era Pirsch tractors, and one pulled by a '76 ALF tractor. Rounding out the reserve fleet is one Pirsch Junior aerial, and two E\-One rearmounts.

Cany anyone help me? I was wandering what the callsigns are for the EMS Lieutenants or Battalion Chief's, and where they are located.

I don't have anything now John.



Last I heard, there are 2 engines, 2 trucks, 7 ambulances, and few other things in the FY2011 budget. No idea where stuff is going yet.



There are some new ambulances and Tahoes out there. I will see if I can get some photos over the next day or two.

Can someone explain the idea of having the tillerman sitting in the middle of the ladder on the old Ford tillers, and the ladder being raised without having a gap in between the rungs?

I don't have all the details, but the steering rod was detachible & went between the rungs and the tillermans seat would either swing or flip out of the way. I'm looking for a better picture of one with the aerial deployed.

Hey Trav,



I have Tillered a Pirsch before. They are built two part. One the windshield unlocks swings to the right side below the windshield was a canvas piece kind of a wind block for your legs. Your feet rest is the rungs of the ladder. The seat in the same fashion unlocks and swings to the right side. The steering wheel just pulls out of a scokett below the tread plate under the ladder and you place it in a cup holder on the edge of the treadplate tiller man platform. Then raise the ladder.



The old 1950 KCFD Seagrave 85ft Ladder (Truck 7 later Truck 4) was much the same however you sat in a wash tub between the ladder. The windshield and seat were all together with a metal floor all self contained. The tub was on springs and the the left side latches were released it flipped to the right it was a powerful flip.



The old KCFD 700 ALF's, the 1960's-1970's Seagrave K and P 100ft Ladders had fixed tiller seats behind the ladder. They were open air but windshields and fixed seats.
