1948 Seagrave, semi-cab conv., 750/250, ser.no.D7510, painted 11-30-48, model J, delvd 12-1-48, underwriters tested 12-3-48 in Perkiomen Creek near Water St, designed for rural service, $17,000, Chief Eugene Knause and Seagrave representative Wm.Backenstose drove in from Columbus,OH, on delv fire co.given 5 days to accept, photo in TOWN AND COUNTRY newspaper 12-17-48 front page, housed 6-18-49, in 1953 equipped with two-way radio, when Krause died in 1983 his body was carried in funeral on hosebed of this apparatus which he drove in from Columbus,OH 35 years earlier, in late 70s booster tank replaced with new 800 gal tank, in 1981 sold to Chuck Buschardt- Seagrave collector in Bellaire,TX, Seagrave V-12 motor.

This was Brooklyn, Maryland's rig. It was Anne Arundel Co. Engine 312. Replaced in the mid 1960's with a Pirsch engine.

This is just an amazing site. The amount of info on here is beyond believe. This is all I had on that piece:



1947 Mack, Type-75, cutaway cab roof, semi-cab, 750/300, delvd 12/47, housed 6/18/48. Sold in 1970 ?



Can either of you fill in the dates on where it went ?



Who ownes it now and where ?

This one looks like it was originally an American Fire Apparatus product.

There are some similarities, but it is not an American. The man who built it was there at the muster.

After some quick research, this was Wilson's Mills first fire truck when they were 1st formed, bought used in 1972. They paid $4,000 for it and sold it in 1981 to pay for newer equipment. In 2002, It was located in Lumberton,NC sitting in a field and they paid $600 to get it back. In 2006, the truck was restored by inmates at the Piedmont Correctional Center in Salisbury, work that was paid for with $18,000 in donations from firefighters and community members. It is now owned and maintained by the Wilson's Mills Fire Dept. Source:Wilson's Mills website

Thanks to everyone for the information updates!! On the Brooklyn, MD/Northeast Stokes, NC truck, now that I think about it, Micah and I did see the "312" and "A.A. Co." writing painted over in the maltese cross on the door. I was so busy writing down specs from the million other trucks, I got distracted and forgot to put that down.



Steve L, we assume East Spencer's platform is for sale. It was unlettered and parked behind the FD at the Public Works building. It was lettered and in the station last time we went there, and it certainly didn't look like it had a fresh paint job parked out there. Apparently there was some controversy when ESFD bought the truck anyhow, so they may be getting rid of a problem.



Bruce, I have no idea what the guy's name is, but he owns 9/10's of the old trucks posted from the muster. He keeps most of these trucks parked inside a huge garage in Landis, NC (Rowan Co.) and calls his fictional fire department the "Landis Hook & Ladder Company." He also owns two fields full of antique rigs in various states of disrepair and rust, and also owns about 5 or 6 former gasoline tankers turned into massive water tenders that he pulls with his semi-trucks to help local fire departments with water supply during large fires. Last time we went, he had two or three antique cadillac-style ambulances parked outside also. Apparently he's getting interested in those now?
