aren't they on the wrong side of the river!
LOL, no they are on the right side. This was after the USS New York made the U-turn at the GWB. She is going south in this pic. That pier is at 70th Street. Scott
I more than understand the procession and all, but I'm thinking that a 1.5 Billion dollar warship chocked full of Marines can take care of itself <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/machinegun.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Anyone know when NYPD started adding the car year to the RMP car numbers? Scott

Anyone know when NYPD started adding the car year to the RMP car numbers? Scott
That started with new 2008 model year vehicles and coincided with a revamping of the department vehicle numbering system by Fleet Services. If you see a marked vehicle with a model year earlier than 08 in it's number, then it was probably renumbered to figure into the new numbering scheme at a time when that vehicle was reassigned.
Very nice pics of the USS New York. Its a helluva ship!
Just watched a show on the building process last night at the firehouse. I believe they said it took approx 5 years to build. But after Katrina the completion date was pushed back a year due to a shortage of workers in Louisiana

Anyone know what this one's used for?
Joel, As stated it is for Bomb Squad Techs at Truck 2. The official name is TOTAL CONTAIMENT VESILE (TCV). The smaller trucks replaced the units that were on Trailers at Truck 8 and 2. The blast chamber is on a fork lift type device that allows the bomb to be placed inside with out taking it through the building, to the street. The smaller trucks replaced or supplement the two bigger ones at Floyd Bennett called "LaGuardia" Trucks and pulled by tractor trailer rigs. I am not sure if these are still there or sold off or gone... John
Back in 1994 I grabbed a photo of one of 2 Trucks REPS with a small TCV mounted on a trailer with a canvas cover on a frame over the TCV. Remember that one the cops on the REP was freaking out because you could make one by taking the photo and doing the math for the sizes!
I will try and find it and post it. Also, I think somewhere in this thread is a photo of the "Pike-LaGuardia" bomb trailer sitting is the weeds at Floyd Bennett. Hope this helps!
