Can anyone tell me what the purpose of the "Recruitment Team" vehicle is? Growing up in Boston and trying to get on for years taught me that there is no recruitment, just luck. Knowing Civil Service and the hiring process of the BFD (strictly off the state list)makes me wonder why they would even bother with this vehicle.
I do count my blessings every day to have gotten on DCFD, but I still miss my friends on BFD.

Natick's
Pierce spent some time on a used firetruck website two years or so ago. Not sure who ended up picking it up.

Clifton Forge, VA got this rig.
Here's a Mike Sanders photo of how the Natick rig looks today.
Sorry for the reply to a months-old post!

The recruitment team is the result of a 2006 class action lawsuit. One for one hiring is gone however each class has a certain amount of mount of minority candidates added so the entire department reflects the community that BFD serves. The recruitment team is made of a Captain and several firefighters out to ensure certain people know about the exam.

Long breath in....long sigh out
I really hate the fact that people who truly don't want this job are being actively "recruited". One would think that if you really wanted to be a fireman, at the least, you would know how to start the process and take the test. Sometimes I am glad I left PC Massachusetts.
On another note, I am glad to see Boston getting some new apparatus. I wish they would keep the Boston logo/font. It was truly a defining feature of the department. They should put the shamrocks back on too.

I'm right there with you Roy. The main reason why I moved to NH was too many years of getting passed over or not even looked at because I was a white male who decided to get a college degree instead of going into the military. It didn't matter that I wanted the job more than anybody.
I was thinking the same thing the other day. We were taking a Structural Collapse course in Everett with some Boston companies and I was looking at the front of Rescue 2 with the old logo and the front of Tower Ladder 10 with a plain old yellow Boston across the front.
