Ford C Series Chassis Fire Apparatus

The Newark FD operated four 1983 Ford C/ALF 1000/500 engines. Here is a photo I took of NFD Engine 12 shortly after it had gone into service.

It would seem like a goodly number of large city fire departments used at lesst a few Ford C chassis rigs in either the 70s or 80s. Here is Fort Lauderdale Engine 2 using a 1971 Ford C/Atlantic 1000/500 pumper in 1985.

Tampa used the Ford C chassis for pumpers in the early 80s. Here is Tampa Engine 17 operating a 1980 Ford C/EOne 1000/500 in 1984. Sorry about the purple streak through the photo. A 100-foot roll of slide film I reloaded in 1984 had this nasty purple streak through every frame.

Has anyone else ever noticed the similarities between Atlantic and American Fire Apparatus? Does anyone know if there was any connection between the two companies?

Just a year later, in 1985, the same station was Hillsborough County Station 14 and operateing as HCFD Engine 141 was this 1984 Ford C/unknown 1000/750. Georgia Dave will probably recognize the manufavturers emblem between the cab windows.
