The Newark FD operated four 1983 Ford C/ALF 1000/500 engines. Here is a photo I took of NFD Engine 12 shortly after it had gone into service.

Mesa/AZ had this 1973 Ford CT tanker with bodywork built by the Mesa FD shops. It had a 500 gpm-pump and a 3000 gallon-tank. Bill Hattersley photo
Engine 520 in Hayden Lake / Idaho was a 1974 Ford C with bodywork from General Safety. It had a 1000 gpm-pump and a 750 gallon-tank. The canopy-cab was added later. Bill Hattersley photo
Rescue 7 in Mt.Vernon/Washington once operated this 1959 Ford C with Gerstenslager body. Bill Hattersley photo
Still in service 1980 ford c / 4 guys
Londonderry, NH Engine 4 - 1980 Grumman Firecat
(retired from service in 2004)
Lake Meade NV, FORD/? im not sure of the info on this rig. I shot it in the yards of the Clark County Shops.
It would seem like a goodly number of large city fire departments used at lesst a few Ford C chassis rigs in either the 70s or 80s. Here is Fort Lauderdale Engine 2 using a 1971 Ford C/Atlantic 1000/500 pumper in 1985.
Tampa used the Ford C chassis for pumpers in the early 80s. Here is Tampa Engine 17 operating a 1980 Ford C/EOne 1000/500 in 1984. Sorry about the purple streak through the photo. A 100-foot roll of slide film I reloaded in 1984 had this nasty purple streak through every frame.
Has anyone else ever noticed the similarities between Atlantic and American Fire Apparatus? Does anyone know if there was any connection between the two companies?
The Armdale Station of the Hillsborough County, FL operated this 1983 Ford C/Emergency One 1250/750 pumper in 1984.
Just a year later, in 1985, the same station was Hillsborough County Station 14 and operateing as HCFD Engine 141 was this 1984 Ford C/unknown 1000/750. Georgia Dave will probably recognize the manufavturers emblem between the cab windows.
