Keystone State Relics
Scott,

Correct on Buckhorn - it is located in PA, just outside of Bloomsburg, along Rt 80. I went to Bloomsburg many - many moons ago - great truck stop - a place to get something to eat at 3:00 am after a serious night of brews. Oh, the memories.

Sorry, I have no info on the rig.

Scott, I am almost positive that this is the Buckhorn VFD in Brunswick County, Virginia. I'll have to check my notes when I get home to be sure, though.

I can't explain why that CarMar rig has a Bean body, but it does. It even has Bean pump controls. Can't help with the specs either, but this one is definitely in PA. I found their website and there are two shots of it there.

Thanks for the information, guys. I have to wonder if Buckhorn, VA didn't see this rig at some point, as at least one of thier older rigs had a very similar deer-and-lettering scheme.

Now I am determined to find photos when I get home! :-)

Well I will definutly be there, this year it is only a 2 hour drive instead of the 4 hour drive like last time. It would be great to meet some of the firepixers if any of you are coming!

[b][font=Arial Narrow][size=3][color=#6666CC]Thanks for all the feedback on my recent posts. I'd still like to know the lowdown on the GMC from Buckhorn, PA. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/dry.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='<_<' />

<img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> Scott, and all other inquiring minds; check out the fall 2001 issue of Keystone State Fire Apparatus News. A pic, and the paragraph above it on page 12, should settle the Buckhorn mystery! Yes, I have a photographic mind, and ya can't always Google apparatus research... <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' /> Warren Jenkins

Scott,

Additional info on the Atglen rig:

1965 International Loadstar/American LaFrance, full cab, 750/750. It was housed on 8/28/65 at a cost of $13,000. While pumping at a call in 10/82 on a sharp curve, it was sideswiped by Cochranville's 1972 Ford C/Young pumper and was destroyed, the frame was bent.

Scott,

I won't shoot you, but I might hold half of your collection as ransom ! Just kidding of course.

No - that was not the rig in the collision with Atglen. Spec's on the tanker from Cochranville:

1968 Ford NT-950 Super-Duty/Midwest (Boyer), full cab, 250/3500, 477 CI V-8 gas engine, 5-speed/2-speed rear manual transmission, cabinet style of tanker, tandum rear axles. It went into service on 5/11/68 at a cost of $31,000. It was housed 10/16/72. It was replaced and put up for sale in early 1990. They had trouble selling it even though it was in good shape for how old it was. It was finally sold in 1991 to a company in South Carolina.

Love to know where this ended up at ?
